New Work, 2014-2016
For the past several years, I've been experimenting with the visual impact of bullet holes and broken glass. The first group, BANG, used Christmas tree ornaments filled with paint which were shot at paper with a sling shot. They were then mounted behind glass with .22 and .38 caliber bullet holes. These pieces led me to create a group of wounds, torn water color paper with wire sutures behind smoky lexan and entitled SOME WOUNDS NEVER HEAL. The next group, ANGER MANAGEMENT, are hand drawn targets mounted behind wire and lexan with .38 caliber holes. The pieces entitled STOP, consist of hands cast in hydrocal and mounted behind bullet holes and lexan. These pieces led to HELP, hand silhouettes made into stencils and drawn with pen and ink and air brushed.
